Synopsis

Lydie Wilson (1850-1880) s’installe à Montpellier en 1874 après son mariage avec Louis-Xavier de Ricard (1842-1911). Ce couple de Parisiens va fonder avec le poète Auguste Fourès (1848-1891) le Félibrige languedocien et éditer pendant trois ans un almanach, La Lauseta, nourri de l’histoire des troubadours et des idées républicaines et fédéralistes. La correspondance adressée au poète audois qui l’a baptisée « Na Dulciorella », à Mistral, à son mari et à sa famille, redonne sa place à une femme du XIXe siècle dont la vie brève a été intense et engagée. Ses lettres témoignent des enjeux de l’époque : amnistie des communards, dont a fait partie son mari, question du mariage et du divorce et condition des femmes. Nous y voyons naître l’amour partagé de Fourès et de Jeanne Wilson, sa sœur. Poétesse, la nature et la langue du Midi l’émerveillent, elle apprend le dialecte de Montpellier, sera une des trois femmes éditées dans la Revue des langues romanes à ses débuts et sera primée en 1878 lors des Fêtes latines.

L’édition critique est précédée d’une étude biographique et bibliographique de l’auteure d’Aux bords du Lez, recueil posthume de ses œuvres en français et languedocien paru chez Lemerre à Paris en 1891.
